Businesses to aid officer's family

A couple of businesses have announced that they will raise money for the family of slain police Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski.

Jose Martinez, owner of A Rose Bouquet Florist, in Port Richmond, said that his shop will donate all proceeds from the sale of Mother's Day flowers to Liczbinski's widow and family.

Martinez said that he hopes all businesses in the 24th District will do whatever they can to show their support "and gratitude for the sacrifice made by one of our brave officers in the line of duty."

All who wish to participate in the fundraiser should visit the shop at 3136 Richmond St., or call 215-634-0670 or 215- 634-0605. They also can go to the shop's Web site, at www.arosebouquet.com.

It was also announced that Geno's Steaks, at 9th Street and Passyunk Avenue, will donate all proceeds from 10 a.m. tomorrow through 10 a.m. Friday.

Tomorrow, this event will broadcast live on WPHT (1210-AM), the Big Talker, from 9 p.m. to midnight. *
