Services for slain Philadelphia Police Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski have been scheduled for Thursday evening and Friday.
He'll also be honored on Wednesday during a previously scheduled ceremony for fallen officers.
The married father of three, who would have turned 40 tomorrow, was gunned down Saturday while pursuing three men who robbed a bank inside a Port Richmond ShopRite.
The gunman, Howard Cain, 33, was shot dead by police. One accomplice, Levon T. Warner, 39, was arrested, but police are still searching for Eric DeShann Floyd, 33, who is considered armed and dangerous.
Last night, dozens of people attended a candlelight vigil at Schiller and Almond Streets, the site of the slaying.
This morning, Violet Menarde, 50, a customer service rep who lives nearby, bought a bouquet of daisies to add to the flowers, candles, pictures of the officer already at the impromptu memorial.
Another vigil is expected to be held there tonight, she said.
"He was trying to do his job and they cut him down," she said. "It's terrible. Terrible. He didn't have a chance. It's very sad that we've come to this. I wanted to pay my respects and say a prayer."
On Wednesday at noon, Liczbinski will be one of five fallen members of the police department honored by Mayor Nutter, Police Commission Charles Ramsey and other dignitaries at the annual Living Flame Memorial Service in Franklin Square Park.
Also honored will be Officer Charles Cassidy, who was shot during an October robbery at West Oak Lane Dunkin Donuts; Officer Walter T. Barclay Jr., who died in August from complications of gunshot wounds suffered in a 1966 East Oak Lane burglary; and Officers Thomas Duggan and John C. Stratton, who died in the 1970s but had not previously been honored.
No fire fighters are included this year, because none has died in the line of duty since last year's ceremony.
At 6 p.m. Thursday, a viewing for Liczbinski will be held at the John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Rd., in Northeast Philadelphia. Visitors who park at Archbishop Ryan High School, 11201 Academy Rd., may take a shuttle to the funeral home.
The funeral home asks that flowers arrive by 1 p.m. that day.
A second viewing will begin at 7:30 a.m. Friday at the Cathedral Basilica of Ss. Peter and Paul, 18th Street and the Ben Franklin Parkway.
A funeral mass at the cathedral will follow at noon.
The burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Rd., Bensalem.
Liczbinski is survived by his wife, Michele, sons Matt and Steve, and daughter Amber.
