Wildwood Tattoo Beach Bash

What would an outrageous Wildwood T-shirt be without coordinating illustrations to cover the rest of one's body? Artists in permanent skin ink — including Ink Master victors and local gems: more than 300 in all — gather and get to tatting.

Noon-11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday, Wildwoods Convention Center, 4501 Boardwalk, Wildwood, N.J. $20/day ($40/all three days); free for ages 12 and under. 609-972-6671, wildwoodtattoo.com

Festival of the Sea Carnival

LBI's four Catholic churches form the St. Francis of Assisi Parish, host of a pop-up midway since 1975. Rides, games, a dunk booth, seafood, ice cream and face-painting by the youth ministry, and hourly 50/50 drawings are part of the bayside tradition.

6-10p.m. Friday-Sunday, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Long Beach Township, N.J.  Free to enter, pay-one-price admission to rides, $20-$25. 609-494-8813, stfrancisparishlbi.org

Saturday Night Fever

Both Gibb and glib, this Broadway show revisits New York's disco scene via the Brooklyn-to-dance-floor tale of Tony Manero, played in the movie by a white-suited John Travolta.

Through Aug. 26 (times vary), Surflight Theatre, Beach Haven, N.J. $39; $29 age 12 and under. 609-492-9477, surflight.org

Boys and Girls Surf Fishing Tournament

Casting lines past the waves for the past 42 years, the kids ages 8 to 16 in this O.C. contest don't always get a bite, but if they do, it'll likely be from a triggerfish or brown shark.

10 a.m.-noon. Saturday (rain date: Aug. 18), Ocean City-Longport Bridge beach, Ocean City, N.J. Free. 609-814-0216, oceancityvacation.com

Kidz Bop Live

The blockbuster children's album brand (and band) that birthed Zendaya, along with a few dozen more singing, smiling tweens, brings cleaned-up pop tunes to Boardwalk Hall, for one early evening only.

6 p.m. Saturday, Boardwalk Hall, 2301 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, N.J. $35-$45. 800-653-8000, ticketmaster.com

Festival of Lights: Boat Parade

Yachts and such, but mostly yachts, adopt an "Around the World" theme for this basin-based procession. Docks and costume-wearers also vie for prizes.

9-11 p.m. Saturday, from Yacht Club of Stone Harbor (9001 Sunset Drive) through North Basin, Stone Harbor, N.J. Free to watch. 609-368-1201, ycsh.org

Miss Crustacean Beauty Pageant

More aptly called the Mx Crustacean contest (a crab's sex often being difficult to determine), this goofy tradition is preceded by Saturday night's Miss Ocean City Pageant and immediately succeeded by hermit crab races.

6-6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sixth Street beach, Ocean City, N.J. 609-399-6111, oceancityvacation.com

Harlem Globetrotters

The sweet and the sour of the annual descent of the Globetrotters into Jersey's Wildwoods means fun's in the air, but summer's on the wane. Still, lots of laughs, slam dunks, and daily basketball clinics (10 a.m.-noon), should ease that end-of-season pain.

7 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday. Wildwoods Convention Center, 4501 Boardwalk, Wildwood, N.J. $22-$80. 800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com
