Honey truck crash creates sticky mess on PHL feeder road

The honey spill kept Route 291 at Scott Way in Tinicum Township closed through the night while crews tried to clean it up.

Crews worked through the night trying to remove a truck load of honey that spilled in Route 291 near Philadelphia International Airport when a tractor-trailer flipped on its side Tuesday evening.

There were no reports of serious injuries in the 5:30 P.M. crash at Route 291 and Scott Way in Tinicum Township.

But more than 12 hours later, crews were still hosing down the highway with power washers in an effort to remove the sticky mess.

Perhaps the one positive is that it is not summer, when insects are swarming.
