From a helpful recommendation from a friend, I had the pleasure of being introduced ReMOD Gallery in Old City the yesterday.   For all you interior gurus and lovers of cool art deco, bright 70's vintage and Danish home decor and furniture, this is your spot!

Located next to National Mechanics on 38 S. 3rd street (the south side of market),  I had the pleasure of meeting the store manager, Amber Skymer, whose upbeat personality and love for vintage designs will have you re-thinking your own "home-decor" style.  Pennsylvanian architect Adrian Pearsall is not only sold here but also a personal inspiration for the shop owner.  Well-known for his affordable 'Atomic' style furniture in the 50's and 60's; a nod to the late designer hangs above Amber's desk with his favorite quote, "Neither dialects nor technology will every replace the creative individuals."

ReMOD focuses on buying and selling furniture, lighting, and home accessories from Mid-Century Modern, Danish and Hollywood Regency.  Not sure the style?  Think a bit of lacquer-glamour from the 30's, some Studio 54 zodiac, wall sculptures mixed with simplistic, Danish functionality.  If you're wondering where designers like Jonathan Adler get their design-vibe from, step your foot through this door.  The Philadelphia shop is decorated with "F. Scott Fitzgerald" clocks along the walls, glazed vases atop glass-flower tables on top of zebra-print area rugs.  The company started online and opened it's brick and mortars store this past April.  Hoping to gain more exposure on the other side of market street, ReMOD selects unique pieces, such as Milo Baughman's 1960's flatbar, chrome lounge chair, handcrafted Danish cabinets by Mobler and rosewood crendenzas from Oman Junn.  Some of the furniture is re-upholstered, depending on the the condition in which it was received and you're more than welcomed to schedule an appointment at their 5,000 square foot warehouse in Medford, NJ.

Lovin' the store's philosophy below....

1. More is more.
2. Our sofas will get you laid.
3. If your mom had it - we want it.
4. Our lights turn you on.
5. Everything looks better in zebra.
6. The best kind of animals are made of metal and have other metal friends to collect.  No food or water required.
7. If loving crackle glazes is wrong then we never want to be right.
8. The only thing better than one is two. We love pairs.
9. It's hip to be round.
10. Cookie jars should always have a face on them.
