Yogis bare all for enlightenment

Would you bare it all to achieve spiritual enlightenment? Bold and Naked, a yoga studio in New York City, wants to rid students of their body insecurities — by letting them practice in the nude.

Bold and Naked is the brainchild of co-owner Joschi Schwarz. The studio offers naked men’s and women’s classes, plus coed classes weekly.

According the website, the premise behind Schwarz and co-owner Monika Werner’s naked yoga practice is that it frees you from negative feelings about your body and allows you to become more connected with yourself and the world around you. Plus, bare skin allows your body to release heat more easily.

"There are a lot of things that separate us in a normal yoga class, like what brand of yoga clothing you're wearing or how you look when you're wearing it. When we're naked, it's like we're all the same," Vanessa Kennedy, a naked yoga class attendee, told Reuters.

Intrigued but nervous? Fortunately, the owners at Bold and Naked also offer half-naked classes. In this class, you can strip down to your underwear or a bathing suit to see if you’re comfortable with taking the next step.
