A look into 50 years of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Posted on Wed, Dec 05, 2012
Children's Hospital of Philadelphia celebrated the 50th anniversary of its neonatal intensive care unit on November 28. Now known as the Harriet and Ronald Lassin Newborn/Infant Intensive Care Unit, it was the nation’s first surgical ICU for newborns and infants. Opened in 1962 as a one-room 12-bed unit, the N/IICU at CHOP has expanded in both size and scope and now has 95 licensed beds encompassing nearly the entire second floor of the hospital.
