Identifying the parts: clinics, library, rec center

A conceptual agreement between the Nutter administration and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia would combine two existing clinics into a new building, with the possibility of a reconstructed library and recreation center. Here are links to each.

A conceptual agreement between the Nutter administration and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia would combine two existing clinics into a new building, with the possibility of a reconstructed library and recreation center. Here are the pieces:

  1. CHOP's Pediatric & Adolescent Care practice is currently housed on the second floor of the former St. Agnes Hospital, on South Broad Street at Mifflin Street.

  2. The Philadelphia Department of Public Health clinic, known as Health Center No. 2, is a few blocks north, on South Broad Street at Castle Avenue.

  3. The city property includes the the small Disilvestro playground.

  4. The aging South Philadelphia Branch Library is on the site as well.

The plan, which Mayor Nutter included in his budget address (page 9) to City Council on Thursday, is for Children's Hospital to construct a new, larger building at the city site that would house both clinics.

A new library and recreation center could be included if it is able to raise enough money.
