Earthquake devastates Haiti

A devastating, magnitude-7 earthquake struck Haiti on Jan. 12, killing as many as tens of thousands of people. The quake flattened much of Port-au-Prince, the capital of two million people, bringing down buildings great and small, from shacks in shantytowns to President Rene Preval's gleaming white National Palace.
