Take Melanie's smart phone away and give her a stupid phone. That's more her speed.

Slick little girls like that one have a million and one excuses for the things they do and blame everyone else. I bet you she blamed it all on that stupid boy she sent naked pictures of herself to and the school probably took that slick girl's side I bet you. Shame on her!

It is unbelievable that after delineating so clearly why teens and children should not have cell phones, the writer give in and encourages it. No one needs a smartphone at all, and no one under the age of 18 should have one, period. Lay down the law, that's what parenting is supposed to be. Set limits and keep them.

Zindorf - That's impossible in this day and age. Blame the corporations who drill the need for this technology into everyone's head via the mainstream media TV commercials. Deregulation by Reagan back in the 80s opened up a Pandora's Box allowing them to target children in their ad campaigns. There was a law against that prior to Reagan's bright idea that no one challenged. The corporations loved it and the stupid consumer continues to suffer in a multitude of levels. Trifling.

Gotta disagree with you on this. Count me as an outlier, but neither myself, my wife or children have a "smartphone". Since my children don't pay the bills, they have no say in the matter. They get what they get. Simple as that.

Impossible? Ever hear of the word "no"?
And once again with your made up "facts." There were no laws prohibiting ads to kids.

Ms Lou: Yes blame the corporations for YOUR lack of parenting and inability to be responsible. Typical liberal response.
