Searching for Amelia Earhart

In July 2012, 75 years after the famed aviator disappeared over the Pacific, the hunt continued with a $2.2 million expedition to search waters off Nikumaroro Island for wreckage of her plane. On Aug. 19, a special on the expedition aired on the Discovery Channel and showed a photo of a possible "debris field." In May 2013, investigators announced a promising new lead: Images of an "anomaly" seen on sonar.
