on the 8th day after creating led zeppelin GOD created corporations. the lopez!
Only the Federal judiciary could contain judges so stupid they actually think that a construct as artificial as a corporation should have the same rights as human beings. I realize that the Judiciary is the third arm of the triad of Federal power, and, as such, is the supposed protector of the people against the powers of Congress and the Executive, but we have GOT to figure out a way of getting people of even minimal intelligence onto the bench, before these ignorant, partisan, biased idiots we insist on appointing bring the whole edifice down. watcher1
People who own companies have absolutely no right to impose their religious beliefs on their employees. And their stand on birth control isn't religious at all, it's political. Jeff West
Jeff, there are 300 million people in the U.S., and you know what everyone's thinking? 835union
If Al and Jesse can get away as "Rev's" and avoid paying taxes, anything is possible. dogman5
How come no one ever argues that Viagra is against their religion? Imagine if Viagra wasn't covered then women wouldn't need birthcontrol. That is never going to happen. How would all the men down there on The Hill get in with all the young interns? imfio
This is what happens when the Supreme Court starts waving the political flag. They've twisted themselves into these types of messes that are going to keep coming.
Money does not equal speech. doctorhim
If corporations don't have constitutional rights, then perhaps they should not be taxed. Let's see how much the left would like that.

Absolutely they have religious rights. It is ludicrous to think that someone's religion has no impact on how they conduct themselves in private or business life. If it's considered a sin privately, how can it not be considered a sin publicly? rudytbone
Without a single payer system we get employers who believe that they have a right to make medical decisions for their employees because they are paying for the insurance policy. SInce it is the insurer, and not the employer, who makes the payment decisions I fail to see where my boss should have any say about what will or will not be paid for if it is already included in the policy. brentrn- Look up the phrase "Third-party administrator." You'll probably be shocked to learn that, in many cases, your employer is using what amounts to a shell company to handle your claims so that you get pissed at the shell, not the magician running the shell game.

The more mandates a government makes on its citizens and businesses, the more questions like this one will enter our legal system. Think about it. People make decisions, and corporations are made up of people. Traditionally the purpose of laws was to govern peoples' actions. But as a government passes more and more laws to govern corporations' actions, the more it puts corporations on the same level as people. It was only a matter of time. everydayguy
just because you open a business, does not mean you have to be absolutely secular in your biz. The question of how secular, is none of the governments business, those that pretend it is will not stop until religion is squashed entirely, public and private. You can choose to work there, or not GreggOmatic
Why not extend it to Corporations, aren't the largest religious institutions, a shell Corporation!! Dadair1
