BOOO... I have been able to do the race for 5 years straight and now a lotto could crash the streak... I know you want to keep the race "for the People", but come on... Have a time requirement to eliminate the people that take over 3 hours to run the race and you'll have plenty of room... You have a lot of good runners that have done this race for years (not 10 years=veteran status) that are going to miss the lotery so that someone who signs up for a new years resolution will either not show up or show up completely unprepared and take the spot of a regular runner...

It would almost be worth doing the race twice on consecutive weekends.

JLendo18, just run anyway. Who cares if you are registered?

Can someone please explain why this race is capped anyways? We can prepare the city for hundreds of thousands of people for Welcome America and JayZ but not for a run?

Richard Christy, Zero - reason race is so popular is because it is a marathon qualifier. If you can't be timed(via registration)
to ultimately qualify for marathon, kind of defeats the purpose of the race.

How is a 10 mile race qualify you for a 26 mile race?
