Thanks for the memories, Andrew Bynum.
It was quite a time. The hairdos, the tough 7-10 splits, the hours spent on the anti-gravity treadmill. And hey, we'll always have London.

Phyllis - As usual, you are completely wrong. This team traded its best player (Iguodala) and three #1 choices (Vuke, Harkless, and next year's #1) for Bynum. You're really going to let him walk for nothing? I think you took the same stance with TO back in 2005 and said that the Iggles and McNabb would win a SB in short order. How'd that work out, Phyllis? If the Sixers trade for Milsap or Smith and re-sign Bynum, at least they have a fighting shot over the next 5 years with a big 3 of Bynum-Holiday- Milsap (Smith). If they let Bynum walk for nothing? Expansion team. 20-30 wins per season. Cap space? Who cares. No one will sign here. Get a clue. And Philly.com....get a columnist that isn't so easy to demolish in a 9-10 line response. Peace. vdstrading- Phil...Amen...cut him after the trade deadline...another diva.
Romus - The problem with this article is the lack of journalism. What is Bynum worth next year? Where does he want to sign and who is willing to pay him to do so?
Why do the Sixers have to choose between a 5 year megadeal and cutting him loose? If he were willing to sign another one year deal that would be better than letting him go.
- vdst… It's just one more case of the Idiot Sheridan going off half-crocked! Since this is the last year of AB's contract, it is neither here nor there whether the 76ers keep him or not. It will cost them the same either way. He's made some fairly conciliatory statements along the way, so the idea he might sign when he will be able to play has some appeal!
I don't believe I'd want to make more than a 1 to 3 year deal with him however. The trouble is there really are so few decent big men in the NBA. BEMiller
This is what I said months ago although I didnt think of releasing him. Extremely poor judge of talent and attitude by Sickers Mgt not only about bring Bynum here but also about all the players and draft choices we gave up and other players we let go last yr from a good team. Tony DiLeo got to go-go. Worst GM since Jimmy Lie-man got nothing for Barkley and drafted Bradley @ 2 and Witherspoon @ 5 or Jack Ramsey got nothing for Wilt or Pat Williams traded Moses for Ruland and Brad Dougherty for Hinson. AlwaysRight
no no no. You don't cut Bynum...sheesh
Wait till the offseason, have his knees checked out THOROUGHLY this time, and then base the contract offer off of the results. If he can get a more a lucrative contract elsewhere, then let him walk.
"Bynum gets out on the court long enough to attract interest from other teams. That would put the Sixers in the position of paying a guy more than $16 million to hang around, then giving him a showcase to make even more money elsewhere. Forget that. By shutting him down now, the Sixers put Bynum in the position of having to prove he is healthy, maybe even struggling along on a one-year deal for just a couple of million." ??? Are you suggesting the Sixers' play a game of tit for tat with Bynum? :/

Come on Phil, in get it but you have think like a business man. Take all emotions out of it. They h ave time, and will take as much as needed to figure it out. sore richard
Well, the Suxers rolled the dice. You either take a chance like that or be really bad so you can hope to draft a franchise player to even a chance to compete for a championship. The NBA playoffs are the worst playoffs of any of the major sports. There are no upsets. You know who is going to be in the finals. A championship is no where in sight for this city. delder- I have been a sports fan all my life, but I admit BB isn't a sport I know much about, not so much the sport itself, but the inner workings of the league. In other sports, before any deal goes through, there's a physical, and if the target passes, the deal's approved. What clown approved this deal, and I'm assuming BB has those rules in place, to trade away so much for severely damaged goods. Why can't the Sixers petition the league and have this deal nullified, or compensated, for acquiring damaged goods..any enlightenment would be appreciated
TexasYankee - @TY-I asked that question here in October. Even went so far as to ask if Stern should have stepped in to at least negate the Sixers #1 draft pick leaving town and to fine/punish the Lakers who may have held back info. I believe the consensus was it was all on the Sixers. It was the Sixers who should have done their due diligence before making the trade. The results show here that they did not.
- Thanks for the response..exactly right, and while I put the blame squarely on the Sixers management for knowing trading for damaged goods, this knee problem didn't happen overnight..but this guy hasn't played a minute for the Sixers, and of course LA knew his knee's were shot, it just blows my mind that this deal was done and approved at all, from the Sixers, to LA, to the league office....This is pretty much a shining example of how much I despise the NBA, all the other big three need to take the example of MLB and clean up their acts...amazing

Sixes duped again-WHAT LE IS NEW!!! That is why I don't watch or listen to their games anymore inept management!! slade1955
Offer Bynum a low base salary next year plus plenty of Bowling-For-Dollars incentives depending on how high an average he maintains, how many consecutive strikes and spares he can score, and if he makes it to the PBA Finals. zen
I don't have a problem with the Sixers moving on, there is to much uncertainty in Bynum and the outside isn't promising. if they do keep him and by some miracle his knees hold up they still can't beat Miami with the team around him .Also, do you really want to give a max contract to a guy with shaky knees and a questionable work ethic? I don't mind what they did to get him other than Harkless and the future pick they didn't really lose anything. The goal should be with any organization to go for the championship and sometimes that requires risk Bynum was worth the risk if healthy but he"s not and its time to move on bgwille
