It's appropriate that in the city that produced R&B super group Boyz II Men, Jrue Holiday, the youngest 76er in franchise history to be named an all-star, is making that same transformation right before our eyes.

Players aren't fools. They know the NBA is a business. And they know that Philadelphia is a major city and a major market and therefore MUST have an All-Star to build publicity sand castles around. Enter Chris Paul, NBA player, to pump up a local asset. Holiday seems like an incredibly sweet kid. But shame on the team for hiding behind such a good guy in order to fabricate lies that support the notion that the team has a future. Holiday is NOT a great player. He is a guy added at the end of a roster for reasons of marketing and publicity. He will NOT be a magnet to get great players to come here.
The sad thing is that both the team and the sports media have agreed upon a strategy which plays to the stupid members of the fanbase that believe these propaganda releases and doesn't know enough about basketball and the NBA business to see just what a complete failure the team is. They don't even own their own arena. Their practice facility is literally on the other side of town. Really? Millionaires want that? On what planet?
Oh yeah, and lastly: how are those P.T. Bynum knees doing? He sure is dying to play here, ain't he?

Say what you want about the state of the current Sixers, but to say that Jrue Holiday isn't on the fast track to 'greatness' is just being the average negative Philadelphia sports fan.
The man is leading the team in scoring and averaging close to 9 assists per game on a team bereft of consistent scorers. The Time Is Now
terrific athlete, but still lacks the court vision, and sense of his team mates and the tempo of each game to be a great point guard. he could well flourish under different circumstances, rzzzzz

Yes, a twenty-two-year old kid who has only been in the league three years has completely reached his potential. No where to go but down, right? Who cares that all the facts dispute your ridiculous argument, that the kid is putting up better numbers than any Sixer's point guard in decades. But sure, he has no court vision. Seriously dude, your post says more about your complete lack of understanding of the game of basketball than it says about Jrue Holiday. From growing up in the city, I have learned one defining truth about many so called Philly fans: they will find anything and everything to complain about.

Please tell us one thing the sixers have lost from taking a crack at Bynum? He's a free agent at the end of the year, which means they will, for the first time in recent memory, have space under the salary cap, which was always a big part of the trade. In fact, it was the most important part of that trade. As for players not wanting to play in Philly. What are you twelve? Players go where they are paid. It's always been that way and it always will be that way. Or I guess you are one of those who listen to players when they wax poetically about all the reasons they wanted to sign in a certain city. For example, in all the "oh my god Cliff Lee really loves us" nonsense, people conveniently left out that his contract was for over a 100 million dollars. You think good old Cliff would have been chomping at the bit to sign with the Phillies if they offered him 60 million? Well, if you believe that one, you really are twelve. Hemingway
To "Time is Now" and "Hemingway" : Both of you are absolutely correct. This kid is already a great player and at just 22 has tremendous upside. He's just scratching the surface of what he will be once he gains more experience. Put simply, he is a perfect buidling block for any team looking to win a championship.
IF (and it's a big IF) Bynum returns to form, the 76ers could have the best young point guard and center in the NBA.
I have to say this as someone that was born and raised in New York and understands the game to some degree: The negativity of some (and I emphasize "some")fans down here (when it comes to sports) makes trying to win a championship tougher. IT'S JUST SPORTS, negaDelphians. ENJOY the complete unimportance of sports and you'll win more championships. 21stCentury
"seriously dude" Holliday himself was begging for a mentor to help him learn the position. andre miller has none of his off the charts talent, but is just one of those guys who has always had a good feel for the game. take his court awareness and add the talent and you end up with Chris Paul or DWill. harder to be a natural than to learn that, but jrue has all the tools to be an all star combo guard. rzzzzz
The 76ers really aren't as bad as some people here claim them to be. This is an injured team that is really young. While I don't think Doug Collins is the man to keep running the show as coach he did help develop Jrue Holiday into an All-Star PG (maybe at the expense of others) and is helping ET along but you get the sense he's trying to force a square peg into a round hole by going away from ET's strengths. On the positive side he got even Nick Young playing defense That says a lot! Swaggy is averaging 16ppg and 4rpg along with 2apg as starter his stats are all up as a starter over his season-long stats. Hawes is playing pretty good. It's just the inconsistency of Turner, Wright and Lavoy hurts with Thad, Bynum and JRich all out. Part of their inconsistency is from how DC is handling them. He needs to figure them out and soon for this season to be saved. I still want Michael Curry to take over because if Doug Collins walks in a year or two and Michael Curry walks in the meantime we lose out. I really feel Curry could be the next head coach here. He's shown a rapport with the players and he's won in games he took over for DC in his time here in Philly. He's the cheap option to take over and as some recent assistant coaches I feel he can step up and run things right as DC is overthinking, overanalyzing and wearing down on the players as well as us fans. I feel with Curry in charge we can see Moultrie and others get more playing time even when the main stars return from injury (if Bynum returns at all)... joecooler2u
