Apply age monitors on gun ownership under the age of 30 and yes allow only one handgun to individuals under the age of 30.

Over the age of 30 let them have grenade launchers like the (ex) cop in LA.

The LA cop supports your position. However, other police agencies, not to mention the military, would disagree. Many of the people protecting you, and carrying handguns, are under 30.

Cuddles, with all due respect, plug this into your system:

Regardless of how you feel about gun control in general, there is no correlation between gun control strictness and mass murder. Not an NRA publication. http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/reading-between-the-headlines/201207/mass-murders-are-the-rise

Cuddles, the story clearly states that NJ has some of the toughest gun laws in the country. Exactly how have those laws kept places like Camden safe? How many criminals have tried to obtain weapons legally in NJ? And how will new draconian laws prevent those bent on havoc from carrying our their plans? When you can answer those questions without insulting someone, maybe fellow posters will pay attention. Until then, not so much.

Tony, good counter point about those under 30.

It is not possible to stop careless drinking but age limits cuts down on a whooooole lot of wreckless consequences. Of course, once trained, the military gives full scale guns to 18 year olds.

Most people under the age of 30 are not trained with guns.
Many careless and wreckless consequences come from those under 30. Thus society has placed age restrictions on alcohol, driving and even political activity.

Age restrictions/limits for those under 30 with guns.

    A step forward.
