Forget watching college football bowl games on TV and nursing hangovers. If you're a Philadelphian, one New Year's Day activity trumps all others.

I love the Mummers Parade Darren Lipscomb

As a member of the 2012 String Band Champions, Woodland String Band, and a Mummer of since 2000, this is what I live for. Despite I have been away for a bit due to my job, I am always there at the club on 3rd and Snyder when I am home on leave to do my part. This parade has grown by leaps and bounds and is getting better ever year. More competitiveness is being seen as well. I miss Philly, and I miss my beloved Mummers and my BROTHERS in Woodland String Band, I will again be watching them take charge on WB17 live webstream. ICEInvestigator55
The Mummers is a great parade. It isn't the New Year until I hear the 1st String Band walking up Broad Street. I like the addition of drag queens. That should add a theatrical flair, fun and color to the parade. I'm looking forward to seeing them cut it loose. MikeP
The city has a assistant parade director for the city's Department of Parks and Recreation. Say what. Good grief!
