WTF IS up with politicians these days?
Philadelphia's highest elected official went on national television Wednesday, looked into the camera and said the NRA's proposal to staff schools with armed guards was "a completely dumbass idea from the start."

Nutter using dumb@$$ about someone else...pot meet kettle. phillystarfish- Make no mistake about it. Mike Nutter is a weak Mama's-boy (boy as in son nothing to do with race). I've watched his tough talk evolve and believe me, it's just a facade. Mike Nutter still rides on The Weenie Wagon.

Nutter is an IMBECILE! Gun violence is out of control in this city. The number of shootings and murders from this violence has gone up every year for the past three. When he was elected he promised to cut this violence in half. Now he sticks his nose into issues totally out of his realm. Trade what with China. How was that all expense paid vacation(thank you actual taxpayers) for you and your select puppets. The natives instead of being restless accept his failed leadership, rising taxes every year and his dishonor to those who count. AMERICA used to be- I can't wait until we hit #400! Does anyone suppose that there's still enough time?? >:D
jverlin - Let's see...I'm assuming you're a fan of George W Bush, so let's see how his expense paid vacation stacks up next to Obama..."George W. Bush, was on vacation more — 1,020 days — than any U.S. President since Herbert Hoover and possibly more than any other President in history.
Even President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was in office 12 years from 1933 to 1945, was on vacation less days than President Bush at 958 days. Calls to several Presidential Libraries reveal that no President can come close to Bush’s 1,020 days on vacation in an 8 year period. Even Lyndon Johnson, who spent 484 days at his ranch in Texas and at Camp David during his presidency, came in under Bush’s vacation time. Some claim the cost of Bush’s frequent trips to Crawford, Texas cost taxpayers upwards of $20 million, but the numbers are hard to confirm smallestsmurf - And jverlin? You are rooting for your own countrymen and citizens to get gunned down in the streets...congratulations, you're a real 'merican.

We're a culture that sinks to the lowest form of expression. Brings the politicians down with the "regular" people. Just another example of the dumbing down of America. PotteryPete
So, instead of elevating conversation he deliberately use profanity. Nice example to the little ones.... wiredalot
Cussin' distracts from the murders, crime, uncollected taxes, un-honored Firefighter contract, school district collapse, and complete lack of leadership in city government. One question: is Nutter's security team armed? Boru
It is really sad that Nutter is such an empty suit that he has to curse to try to get people's attention. What a joke. Captain Terrific
Cursing scores points with your constituents when you are a donkey (so your people are welfare queens and goonion idiots). If you are trying to reach an intelligent audience, it simply is a non event - this aticle is VERY telling about ghetto culture - yow mean? freemarkets
I am a person that does not normally curse in public or private. The worst I have done is a few episodes of what the hell or heck and I prefer not to do that either.
I AGREE with the Mayor Nutter's opinion of the NRA proposal regarding schools! EIK- Elk...He has already put armed guards in some of the schools in Philadelphia. Not sure why he is up in arms over an idea his doing himself right now.

I think two situations are apples and oranges:
1. A few very dangerous urban high schools having armed guards or police where there is violence regularly and some students are very problematic,
versus
2. Any school where there is no noticable violence or threat of violence other than possible mass shooting which is a very very infinitely small probability for one given school.
For most schools, presence of a gun implies higher probability of a kid or others getting accidently/intentionally shot than the probabiliy of preventing a mass shooting!
I do not want any armed guard at my son's school!
I prefer to have counsellors and nurses who will notice disturbed kids and do something about it than having armed guards at these schools. The school districts are getting rid of those or cutting their hours. EIK
