In China, Nutter gets close-up look at emerging economic giant - and Philadelphia partner
Posted on Mon, Dec 03, 2012
TIANJIN, China - This port city of 13 million on the coast of northern China could really give an American mayor a serious case of investment envy.

    See..the difference in China is that they have literally trillions of dollars (profits, balance of trade surplus, etc) to pump back into their infrastructure plans, etc. to continue upgrading their ability to compete. Sure, lower wages help, but remember, it's mainly our dollars (thanks to their currency manipulation and our insatiable desire to buy things) along with the Government's being more diligent in catching malfeasence, etc. Over there, stealing money from the Communist Collective underpinnings usually results in death. Here, like Fumo, Perzel and the other political thieves and liars, you get away with minimal punishment . Stealing by our elected "elite" is an epidemic in the USA. China is driving toward and will be the most powerful industrial nation on the planet. It's a guarantee--not a fantasy. Since the USA is now based on greed, we're on the road to continual decline. They'll be churning and burning for the next half century (maybe longer) as we fade into the background. As long as the Communists hold power, China's future will be carefully orchestrated and directed to maximize productivity and expansion. No hit and miss policies like Nutter and his buffoon squad, who'll hire buddies and waste millions on questionable spending that enriches the "incrowd", not the City. He does lip service, but is just a front for the real people who run this city (and the nation). Congress is populated by thieves who've figured out how to get filthy rich at the populations expense. Will it change? I doubt it....

    Paper Tiger (wasn't Japan supposed to take over two decades ago?). Do we really want to emulate a corrupt communist nation with limited to no freedoms?!? China can only be a business person's fantasyland.

    want to be just like China? Pay your employees wages that don't even approach poverty level. Allow kids as young as 12 years old to work in factories building Apple products. Sure most of our leaders are corrupt, but at east they are publicly executing their critics...yet.

    @Oblekr, great post, well done.

    All that is left for me, is to ask the obvious. Are the taxpayers paying for this trip ?

    That's like asking if Nutter is being driven around the city in a tax payer paid vehicle.

    What does the mayor of a cash-strapped city do? Go 1/2 way around the world with an entourage on the taxpayers dime.

    He does not belong in China. Is this a joke? He is out of his element. Meanwhile, back in Philadelphia, we just had one of the bloodiest weekends of the year. Get back to City Hall Mr. Nutter and stop your wannabe presidential world tour.

    The "Gweilo" in China, how interesting. Nutter probably thinks that means friend in cantonese.

    Maybe the Chinese can come over to see Philly and Nutter can show them how NOT to run a city? Of course Tianjin's doing well. All the manufacturing jobs that were once in Philly are now over there. Tianjin's like Philly was over 60 years ago.
