He's not done, but he isn't 100% that is for sure. There is no big difference of his fastball and slider, as a hitter its easy to see the difference.

Even at his best, Lidge is a crapshoot. Phils need a closer more than anything else to me. I can't remember a 1-2-3 9th for a save from him.

In 2008 fewer than a third of his saves were 1-2-3. He gave up runs in (I think) 6 of 41, and had multiple base runners in 17.

Reminds me of MItch Williams when he would go out to the mound in the 9th and there would be a collective "uh oh" at the park...and Curt Schilling refused to watch!

No that he had anything resembling a good outing yesterday, but the double came from a lucky outcome (for the Rockies) on a protect the plate swing and the single resulted from a hitter getting lucky when overmatched by a pitch (had he hit it just a bit better it would have gone straight to J-Roll). Not to mention the possible strike 3 that didn't get called before the walk. People seem to forget that he has a lot of saves like that during his "perfect" year.

Your closer shouldn't be constantly pitching out of bases loaded jams.

Until the close calls become non-saves, I'll take Lidge just the way he is. He certainly makes the game a whole lot more exciting than a one-two-three save and it's not like he puts you to sleep. For those folks who want to beat traffic, he's perfect because you can be half way home before the game is over.

i totally agree. Remember baseball is to watch for enjoyment also. He definetly brings excitement to the end of the game. And give the guy credit, he hasnt blown the saves. He know when to pick it up and get the guy out when he needs to.
