Mastrocola's Italian delis closed a decade ago in Conshohocken, Plymouth Meeting, Trooper, and Audubon. But Mike Mastrocola Sr.'s renowned roast pork has been reborn in the refrigerator case of Giant supermarkets across the region, where it's being sold in one-pound heat-and-serve plastic tubs. Superior in freshness to a frozen version the family tried a few years ago, Mastrocola's Famous Philly Roast Pork is actually closer to an authentic Italian rendition, with rosemary vivid through the tender morsels of juicy shredded meat. Mastrocola's son, Mike Jr., concedes that the recipe's garlic and pepper has been dialed back for the supermarket crowd. But it's still a full-flavored sandwich that, piled on a kaiser roll with provolone and roast peppers, makes for a perfect tailgate or weekend lunch.
