Truck Stop: Say Cheese! Philadelphia

What to eat: Gourmet grilled cheese, or “brown-bagged meltyness,” as owner Alan Krawitz likes to call it. Don’t miss: Building your own sammie for $5 to $6 with such saliva-stirring add-ons as buffalo sauce, salsa, blue-cheese dressing, avocado, bacon and fried onions.

Don't miss: Building your own sammie for $5 to $6 with such saliva-stirring add-ons as buffalo sauce, salsa, blue-cheese dressing, avocado, bacon and fried onions.

On the menu: Goodies like the Mary D ("Grandma's meatballs meet grilled cheese"); the Presto Pesto (chicken topped with pesto, provolone, spinach and tomato); El Duke (sirloin chip steak topped with jalapeño jack cheese, salsa, refried beans and avocado); and Wild Bill (chicken, cheddar, buffalo sauce and blue-cheese dressing).

Insane value: The sweet-potato fries, drizzled with maple syrup: A party in your mouth for just $1.50.

Surprise gem: "Sun tea," brewed by the sun at Krawitz's Havertown home for a "more subtle flavor."

Find it: Temple University, Norris Street between 12th and 13th, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Backstory: Krawitz was a capital-markets analyst who ditched finance to follow his family's tradition of entrepreneurship and taking care of people (his great-grandfather made sandwiches at his North Philly grocery store).

Say Cheese! Philadelphia, which Krawitz owns with his father, Les, hit the streets last October. Besides serving sandwiches superior to anything your mom ever made (Sorry, Ma!), Krawitz puts out comfy beanbag seats for customers.

Every other Thursday Daily News wannabe food-truckers explore local mobile-food operations; this week's truckers are Dana DiFilippo andDavid Gambacorta.
