Recycled beauty

This lovely bowl with smoky swirls is pretty enough to be displayed on your table as a work of art. But it's so lightweight and durable that it could easily become a favorite serving piece. Imported from Valencia, Spain, it's made of recycled glass, taking advantage of Europe's extensive recycling program. The price makes it even more attractive.

Down memory aisles

Fans of Philadelphia's venerable Reading Terminal Market (and newcomers, too) might want to check out a touching 12-minute documentary called "A Family Portrait," featuring tales from its old-timers (sandwich man Domenic Spataro and the late butcher Harry Ochs among them) and interviews with customers and longtime workers. Proceeds will support an expanded oral history of the city's oldest food market. Vintage archival footage is also included on the DVD.

"A Family Portrait," $9.99, available at the Reading Terminal Market office, 12th and Arch Streets, 215-922-2317; also at www.pageneralstore.com.
