Style: Valerie Erwin's ode to Low Country cuisine has evolved over nearly a decade and a move to a larger space to become one of Philly's unique BYOBs, where the Hoppin' John flavors of South Carolina's rice coast (and Erwin's own family traditions) are served in a casual, but warm, cafe with a simple approach that lets good ingredients shine with a home-cooked touch. Service often feels at loose ends, but that shouldn't deter lovers of regional Southern cooking from visiting Mount Airy's oasis of Geechee goodness.
