Come July 31, Mugshots Coffeehouse (1925 Fairmount Ave.) will close as it becomes the third location of High Point Cafe, out of Mount Airy.
High Point's Meg Hagele said she'll need a week or two in August to make the place "High Pointy." High Point's menu includes pastries and gluten-free treats, house-roasted coffees, and crepes.
Hagele, who got into the business in 2005, and Mugshots owner Jill Fink, who started in business across from Eastern State Penitentiary in 2004, are longtime friends – traveling to Peru together in 2008 to visit coffee growers from the San Fernando cooperative.
The sale is billed as a win-win, as Fink will shift into her "other" full-time job as executive director of the local nonprofit Food Moxie, an offshoot of Weavers Way, which encourages people to grow their own food and work cooperatively.
Mugshots gift card balances will still be redeemable at any High Point Cafe after August 1st, 2017.
