Starr and Questlove opening food stand in NYC
Michael Klein, Philly.com
Stephen Starr - who started his career as a music promoter - and Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson - the Philly-born drummer for The Roots - are going into the food business together in New York.
Expect a mid-May rollout of Hybird, a stand at Chelsea Market. Starr owns branches of Morimoto and Buddakan in the same building.
Only dribs and drabs of information have been released (the New York Times had more on the overall changes at the market), but the menu will include Quest's signature chicken drumsticks (which have been served here at the Roots Picnic and Feastival), dumplings crafted by Buddakan's chefs, cupcakes, as well as juices and slushies.

Hope he wears a hairnet while working the stand. PhillyBurbs
I hope more of our city's youths follow in Thompson's footsteps. No criminal involvement. Accomplished musician. Businessman. Let's hope he is a good guy too. MichaelZoe
"Questlove" is that clown who dissed Michelle Bachman and didn't have the stones to apologize, correct? Cockroaches - meet restaurant. teardownthisfishwrap
That 'clown' is an accomplished musician and producer. He didn't need to apologize, she's a complete wacko! Philjaz

Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson ... up till now I always thought SS was cutting edge. How knows maybe he just needs a tax write off. hawk
Everyone knows music is just a step-stone to becoming a multi-millionaire greedbag. Zindorf
When you're a musician it's always wise to invest in something else before you fade into irreverence and spend all your money with nothing coming in anymore. Being in limbo as a house band for Jimmy Fallon was a red flag right there. That's why they start selling clothes, perfumes, hats, vodka, underpants etc. They know that the entertainment industry is fickle and you can get the boot at any moment. Even a restaurant is a risky venture. Guess by teaming with Stephen Starr that's a little insurance policy there. Good luck to him. MS. LOU.
Ms. Lou. I'd have to agree with Questlove making investments other than his own talent because he ain't no Prince. In fact he works for Prince. But to work with Steven Starr? Give that man my hard earned money? I'd rather stick needles in my eyes! vrb1955
