Scaring hunger at Halloween

Philabundance, which helps to feed the hungry in the Philadelphia area, is seeing more and more families in need.

The nonprofit has seen a 22 percent increase in need over the last year and a 66 percent increase in need over the last two years. And, according to the Census Bureau, there are more than 200,000 children in the region who live in poverty and nearly one in three Philadelphians live in poverty.

So Philabundance is asking trick-or-treaters to collect coins on Halloween, rather than candy.

For every $1 donated, Philabundance is able to provide two meals to neighbors in need in the region.

Philabundance has created a tool kit to help people get involved.

It's here.
