Philly Farm & Food Fest returning for Year 2

The family friendly programs come back on April 14.

The 2012 debut of the Philly Farm & Food Fest brought several thouand folks to the Pennsylvania Convention Center to see the agrarian side of life in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

It's coming back from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at the center's Annex A, and will feature demos by chefs Valerie Erwin of Geechee Girl Café; Yun Fuentes of JG Domestic; Josh Lawler of The Farm and Fisherman; and Lynn Buono of Feast Your Eyes Catering.

More than 100 vendors will sample and sell locally grown fruit and veggies: Beechwood Orchards; gluten-free baked goods by Amaranth Gluten Free Bakery; meats, poultry and eggs from High View Farm; meat from Philadelphia Cow Share; sweets from John & Kira's, Mom's Pops, Little Baby's Ice Cream, and OwowCow Creamery.

Capogiro, the gelato people, will offer a special Philly Farm & Food Fest flavor.

The fest, a joint project of Fair Food Philly and the PASA (the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture), will host sustainable businesses and feature family friendly activities and workshops, such as Putting the Attainable in Your Sustainable Business, presented by Mid-Atlantic Farm Credit, and Super Small Batch Canning and Preserving by Marisa McClellan.Judy Wicks of White Dog Café fame, will sign and sell copies of her new book, Good Morning, Beautiful Business, a memoir.

Kids activities will include story time and photos taken with Honey Queen or Dairy Princess; and Chipotle Mexican Grill, a supporting sponsor, will offer kids the opportunity to design organic cotton t-shirts and receive a free kids meal card.

General admission tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Children 12 and under are free. Tickets are available at www.phillyfarmfest.org.

Additionally, Judy Wicks of White Dog Café fame, will be signing and selling copies of her new book, Good Morning, Beautiful Business, a memoir about the evolution of an entrepreneur who would not only change her neighborhood, but would also change her world.
