Restaurant deal in Old City

An owner of National Mechanics is taking it over.

Details are virtually nonexistent, but Old City is getting a new restaurant.

Darren Hill, an owner of Old City's National Mechanics bar and the e-commerce software-design company WebLinc, will take over the spot at 207 Chestnut St. that last was Q BBQ after many years as Philadelphia Fish & Co.

Hill acknowledged that he was taking over but said he was still working on the concept.

Actually, Old City is getting three new restaurants. This coming weekend marks the debut of Fire & Ice, a neon-ringed restaurant/club that replaces Patou at 312 Market St.

And at 120 Chestnut St., a Chinese restaurant - competition for Han Dynasty down the block - is on the way, according to one of the partners. That liquor app just went up, and the operators have not yet gone before the Old City Civic Association.
