Honey's Sit N Eat on South Street is open

Old-time furnishings, over easy.

You may think you're walking into an old hardware store or machine shop at 21st and South Streets.

Owners/spouses Jeb Woody and Ellen Mogell raided long-forgotten businesses to outfit their new location of Honey's Sit N Eat, the diner/bruncherie (215-732-5130).

The host's station was a steam-powered band saw (sans steam mechanism) recovered from a shop on 16th Street in North Philly.  A 1947 oven, in pristine condition, is a server's station. Old paint signs from a hardware store hang over the dining room.

The new Honey's is one of the longest-gestating projects in recent times: 973 days from the day it was signed back in June 2010.

Same menu as the Northern Liberties original.

Hours for now are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily but will expand to 10 p.m. soon.
