Guy Fieri at the South Philly Tap Room today

POSTED: Sunday, February 10, 2013, 11:26 AM
This Oct. 11, 2012 file photo shows chef Guy Fieri at the "On The Chopping Block: A Roast of Anthony Bourdain" in New York. (Photo by Charles Sykes/Invision/AP)

Production crews for the Food Network series Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives are hit at least three Philly bars this weekend, as Foobooz and my tipsters say.

(Eeek. Does that make Standard Tap, South Philly Tap Room, and Sidecar dives?)

Host Guy Fieri himself is not shooting yet, my sources say.

But he will be at SPTR on Monday, Feb. 11 to shoot his thing.

I hear that Standard Tap expects him early in the week to ooh-and-ahh over its chicken pie and smelts and duck confit.

one of my favorite shows on TV. I love how they spotlight foods I don't eat anymore. It is good enough to look:) My heart and blood vessels/veins thank me everyday!

Hey Bingo, I'm not a fan of the hate mongers or self-denigrators, but there is the possibility that you can skip reading the comments, thus avoid yourself the pain. For my money, the comments section is the only part of Philly.com worth reading!

Hey, 1st Amendment covers the article, not the comments. Comments are allowed by Philly.com as a service to readers. Like tony palmer said, skip the comments unless you want something truly entertaining to read.

BTW, how does Guy get that fine car all over the Country? It must be a prop that gets its own 18 wheeler so he doesn't crash or run up the miles. Then he probably drives it just for those intro shoots and puts on like 20 miles a year for the show. What a gig!!

Guy should check out Ray's in East Norriton, the Double T (TT) in Blue Bell, and Zoto's in Montgomeryville.

I was born in Jersey City, moved to the shore [ Ocean County ] when I was in my early teens. Met my wife, a Philly girl when I was 30. I moved Center City and then to Roxborough. I currently live back in Ocean county. I'm moving back to Philly as soon as I can.....

I'd just like to chime in that Philly's an awesome town, Standard Tap, Sidecar and the Tap Room rock, and negadelphians all live in their mother's basement in Ridley Township. They also smell bad from poor personal hygiene. And Guy Fieri's show is fun and highlights some awesome local restaurants. He's welcome in my town any time!

Actually, many of their comments are humorous ... or would be, if they didn't embarrass themselves by their grammar and spelling ....

Lived in Center City for four years. Miss it on a daily basis. Now in Massachusetts. No chance of ever living in PA again much less Center City Philadelphia. The only depressing note in an otherwise very happy life. Don't even get that much of a chance to visit. Maybe this summer. Nonetheless, great city. I don't feel any more or less safe on the streets of Boston at night. D.C. was a lot scarier. And I lived in Georgetown!

One point that everyone is missing (although it won't affect most of you suburbanite fear mongers) is that these places will be ridiculously swamped when and if their episodes air.
