Lubavitch Bucks County enlisted six Philly chefs to compete in a cooking contest.
This one had a twist.
Everything had to be kosher.
Bubby's Cook-Off, benefiting Lubavitch's social programs, brought a crowd of several hundred to Vie, the catering spot at 600 N. Broad St., on Jan. 23.
Chicken Matzo Dumpling (quenelle) with Black Perigord Truffles, Leek, Gold Leaf Potato Soup from Jean-Marie Lacroix of Brûlée Catering
Hummus Kawarma with lemony sauce from Guillermo Pernot of Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar
Lamb Shoulder Involtini (Whole roasted lamb shoulder, red onion jam, hot sauce & radish) from Mike Deganis of Alla Spina
Salmon with pickled beets, parsley & orange from Jayson Grossberg of Cescaphe
A beef goulash knish with lamb belly and vinaigrette from Yehuda Sichel of Citron & Rose
Red Wine Braised Brisket, Sweet Potato Puree, Pickled Pearl Onion, Tzimmes Condiment, Spiced Tuile from Shane Cash of Rat's Restaurant
And when the smoke cleared, Pernot's hummus was pronounced the winner.
The event's chairs were Sharon Pinkenson, Joseph Weiss, and William Sasso, and Philly.com's Michael Klein emceed.
In addition to the cook-off, Lubavitch Bucks County honored Ruben Amaro Jr. (the Phillies general manager), and a local couple, Jonathon & Rachel Levine. Sammy Goldstein, a child member of Philadelphia's Friendship Circle - North, also received an award.
