Notes of envy: Pitt, Jolie wine wins top award
One of the world's most beautiful couples has produced one of the world's most beautiful wines, according to a major wine magazine.
Wine Spectator has named a rose produced by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as the top in its category, and 84th in the top 100 wines in the world.
Wine Spectator editors surveyed the wines reviewed over the last year to selected the Top 100 based on "quality, value, availability and excitement."
The list, now in its 20th year, looks at wineries, regions and vintages from around the world for its picks.
For 2013, it chose the Jolie-Pitt & Perrin Côtes de Provence Rosé Miraval. The editors call it: "Refined and elegant, offering pure and concentrated flavors of dried red berry, tangerine and melon. The focused finish features flint and spice notes, with a hint of cream."
A bottle sells for a relatively modest $28.
If you don't envy them enough: Jolie and Pitt produce the wine on their 1,000-acre estate, called Chateau Miraval, in Correns, France. The rose is a joint venture with the Perrin wine family.
The top wine at No. 1 on the list: Cune Rioja Imperial Gran Reserva at $63 a bottle.
