James: 'Something for everyone' near Logan Square

James Logan, a colonial-era mayor of Philadelphia, has his last name on Logan Square.

Now for the "James" part.

James is the name of the restaurant opening Sept. 21 on the ground floor of the Lofts at 1835, on the corner of 19th and Arch Streets.

The roomy venue, formerly Mission Grill, is across the street from the under-construction Comcast Innovation and Technology Center.

Eric Vesotsky, Ben Haney, and Ronald Donatucci Jr., part of the group that owns Mac's Tavern in Old City, are behind James, whose chic, contemporary look comes from Ed Eimer at Eimer Design.

Prices on chef Michael Suminski's new-American dinner menu start in the high $20s and head into the $30s. Bar menu is here.

The partners intend to offer something for everyone, as they aim at the residents in the nearby high-rises, business people in town for lunch, and the upper-tier dinner crowd.  There's a private dining room in the back that seats 14 to 30 as well as a dine-in vault that can seat eight to 10.

Hours are 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., with dinner from 5 to 10 p.m.; lunch will begin in October.
