Truck Stop: Smooth Cow

The truck: Mike Sullivan, owner of the Cheese E Wagon, has built a new truck called Smooth Cow. You can see it on Drexel University's campus from the other end of the block. The paint job features yellow dripping into pink, dripping into purple, with fruit on the bottom and a crazy-looking cow holding an ice cream cone. So, yeah, you shouldn't have a problem finding it.

Concept: Smooth Cow, which just hit the road last week, will satisfy your sweet tooth, either through natural fruit smoothies ($3 for 16 ounce; $5, for 24 ounce), ice cream cones ($4 to $5) and milkshakes ($5 for 16 ounce; $6 for 24 ounce; add fruit for $2), and sundaes ($5 for 8-ounce cup). The ice cream is from Bassetts, based at Reading Terminal Market, and some of our favorite in the city. We're particularly fond of the raspberry truffle.

"This is more of a sweet truck, where the other one is savory," said Sullivan, a South Philly guy and Restaurant School graduate who has worked at the University of Pennsylvania and Wells Fargo Center.

Other stuff: They also have bagels with spreads and tuna fish, chicken and seafood salads. And frappuccinos ($4 to $5). And banana splits ($6). And chipwiches with fresh-made cookies ($5). There's just a lot going on at this truck. Sullivan says he believes that the reputation of his Cheese E Wagon will carry Smooth Cow once the word gets around. "They already know me and know I got good food, so once they find out that it's my truck, they'll know they're getting something good," he said. Consider yourself informed.

Where: Look for Smooth Cow (and its ever-expanding menu) at Drexel University's campus on Market street between 33rd and 34th. Website and social media aren't up yet.

Daily News reporter William Bender can never decide whether he's in a sweet or savory mood. Fortunately, it's always one or the other. Got a food-truck tip? Tweet: @wbender99.
