CHEWY'S

What is it? Northeast Philly native Charlie Sokowski started the truck with a partner in late 2011, but six months ago, dude went solo. The bright-orange truck offers comfort food such as burgers, BLT sammies and tater tots, often with a twist.

Chew on this: The Ranger ($7), a burger served with Sokowski's homemade barbecue sauce, coleslaw and pickles on a seeded bun. It's flavorful, though a bit messy. Keep two napkins on hand. The burger itself could have been larger. Homestyle taters ($2.50) with sea salt were yummy-good, even though we forgot to put on ketchup. (That definitely brings it up a notch.)

Where to find it: Chewy's knows its way around Philadelphia: Mondays, the truck is at 33rd and Arch streets; Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, find it at 35th and Market; Wednesdays, at LOVE Park. Don't be surprised to find it at Eagles and Phillies games, too.

Don't miss: Sokowski says he's all about customer service, and it shows in his soda choices: Vanilla Coke, both regular and diet; Dr Pepper Cherry (our fave) and a wide selection of Jones sodas and Jarritos beverages.

Wish I had tried: The Apple BLT, which speaks for itself, and the Diablo burger, with pico de gallo, avocado and cheddar cheese.
