Eats Beat: Harvest restaurant goes hog-wild

Chef Anthony DiPascale has created a pig-lovers menu around pasture-fed, antibiotic-free organic heritage hogs from Wind Chaser Farm in Paradise, Pa. Try Pork Belly Flat Bread with agave-glazed pork belly, grilled pineapple, queso fresco and micro cilantro, or Wood Grilled Pork Loin Chops with a Choucroute Alsacienne, roasted fingerling potatoes, Kaufman Farm apples and natural jus. Save room for dessert - bacon maple cupcakes!

"One-of-a-kind" is a phrase that gets thrown around a lot, but it truly applies to The Brewers Plate, a celebration of local food growers, purveyors and eaters that will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. March 10 at the National Constitution Center, 525 Arch St. Local brewers will be there, too, of course, and there will be local sweets and spirits. It all benefits Fair Food and the nonprofit's mission of getting locally grown edibles to the marketplace. $70 a person; $140 VIP, which gets you in early for some special treats.   3. The 2013 Philadelphia Rising Stars Award recipients will be celebrated at a gala event from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Kimmel Center. StarChefs.com culinary magazine organized the event, hosted by chef Adam DeLosso of Garces Catering. Sample the work of 18 local restaurants, plus cocktails by the winning sommelier and mixologist.
