13 top food bites at Reading Terminal Market

Reading Terminal Market, which occupies most of the block between Arch and Filbert, 12th to 11th Streets, is the city's smorgasbord.

There's so much to choose.

Maybe too much.

Whether you're dropping in during the Philadelphia Flower Show, on a lunch break from jury duty, or doing the tourist thing, here are our recommendations (in no particular order) – plus a portable dessert you can eat while attempting to walk it off.

We like the wonton noodle soup from Sang Kee, the grilled cheese sandwiches from Valley Creamery, fried chicken and mac and cheese from Keven Parker, the grilled salmon curry over rice from Little Thai Market, wursts from Wursthaus Schmitz, chicken from Dienner's. Plus the signature pork from DiNic's, the cheese and green chile quesadilla platter from 12th Street Cantina, the pastrami on rye from Hershel's East Side, the turkey diablo from Carmen's, Italian hoagies from Salumeria, and the turkey special from the Original Turkey.

All told, we chose 13 favorites from Reading Terminal Market, including Famous Fourth Street cookies.
