10 tips for the Pillsbury Bake-Off, from a winner

The world's richest cooking contest is searching for recipes now.

Pillsbury is hunting for contestants for the next Pillsbury Bake-Off contest, coming up in November.

Take some advice from the woman who won the $1 million grand prize last time out.

Christina Verrelli of Devon offers 10 suggestions to maximize your chances.

Rule #1 includes doing your homework and following directions. And here's something to consider: "Develop recipes that use their product(s) in a new and creative way while also trying to incorporate a trendy or fun element. Consider that this recipe should appeal to the Pillsbury 'audience' of consumers and also that it will be judged by 'foodie' chefs and food professionals."

History is on your side, if you live in the Philadelphia area.

Verrelli won the last outing with her Pumpkin Ravioli with Salted Caramel Whipped Cream.

The previous winner, in 2010, was Sue Compton of Burlington County, whose million-dollar prize was for Mini Ice Cream Cookie Cups.
