Stranger Things, the  sci-fi horror series from the Duffer Brothers that became a sensation when it debuted on Netflix a year ago this week, will return on Oct. 27, the streaming service announced Tuesday.

Just in time for Halloween. (The series was earlier reported to be returning on Oct. 31, but that would have broken Netflix's usual pattern of releasing new and returning series on Fridays.)

Here's how Netflix is describing Season 2:

"It's 1984 and the citizens of Hawkins, Ind., are still reeling from the horrors of the demogorgon and the secrets of Hawkins Lab. Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down but a bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived."

Stranger Things stars Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, whose son, Will (Noah Schnapp), went missing in the first season, and whose rescue involved his friends, his older brother, and the mysterious Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown).
