- Philadelphia made its American Idol debut last night, and the city looked good, as did some contestants. Not so for others including "Philly's scariest woman."
- First, the good news: The woman declared by Ryan Sea-crest to be "Philly's scariest woman" lives in Allentown. Now, the bad: Although thousands of people lined up at the Wachovia Center last August hoping to become the next "American Idol," a number of them were not from around here.
- David: Hi, y'all. It's David Hiltbrand from the Inquirer. It's high noon in Philly and high time to chat about last night's "American Idol" which used our fair city as a backdrop. Let's bring in the Inquirer's ineffable Amy S. Rosenberg to get her opinion. Amy, what did you think?
- "American Idol's" seventh season starts tonight, and our guys and gals are first out of the gate. That can't be good.Get ready, Philadelphia. It's our turn to be "American Idol" weirdos, and it may not be pretty. Think Wing Bowl with a rancid soundtrack. Tonight: 8 p.m., Fox29.
- The irascible judge Simon Cowell weighs in on Philly's audition show debutThe irascible judge Simon Cowell weighs in on Philly's audition show debut. The fun starts at 8 p.m. tomorrow.
- A horde of hopefuls turn out for the Philly tryoutsWHILE THE ODDS are only slightly better than winning the Power Ball, the wannabes still came from far and wide, and in huge numbers, to participate in the open-call auditions for (lucky?) season seven of "American Idol" at the Wachovia Center in South Philadelphia yesterday.
- This morning, hopeful singers will get 30-seconds to show their stuff. Thousands have registered. Most will never face Simon.
