The cast for the 19th edition of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars was revealed this morning on Good Morning America, with the usual exaggerated hoopla.
You may have actually heard of a handful of these people before, or at least will find their faces familiar.
When the bios harken back to the likes of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Mean Girls, well, you know some "stars" aren't exactly A list.
One star with a Philadelphia connection is actress Lea Thompson, perhaps best known for Back to the Future. She danced professionally with the Pennsylvania Ballet, and starred in Caroline in the City, which was inspired by area cartoonist Bonnie Timmons, who drew the cartoons for the NBC series.
Also among the first six announced were Michael Waltrip (Race car driver), Duck Dynasty’s Sadie Robertson, Lolo Jones (Olympic track and field athlete), actor Jonathan Bennett (Mean Girls), and actor Alfonso Ribeiro (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air), all as predicted by Rebel Mouse.
Then there were actor Antonio Sabato Jr. (General Hospital), UFC champ Randy Couture, actress Janel Parrish (Pretty Little Liars), comic actor Tommy Chong of Cheech & Chong, fashion designer Betsey Johnson, YouTube personality and designer Bethany Mota, and talk show host Tavis Smiley, again as entirely predicted by Rebel Mouse.
Smiley, who denied being able to dance, said on GMA that "I wanted to do one last foolish thing before I turn 50."
The show will premiere Sept. 15 on ABC. Tom Bergeron (who said the sight of Chong gave him the munchies) will host with Erin Andrews. The trio of judges will again be Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.
