HUMANS 9 p.m. Sunday, AMC.

Believe it or not, no one's forcing you to hate-watch HBO's "True Detective." There are

alternatives, including this smart sci-fi series on life in a world with robot slaves.

MASTERPIECE: POLDARK. 9 p.m. Sunday, WHYY12.

Robots don't do it for you? Maybe it's time to connect with 18th-century hero Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner, pictured with co-star Eleanor Tomlinson). Given the sorry state of those "True Detective" characters, he's easily Sunday's sexiest man.

I AM CAIT. 8 p.m. Sunday, E! Entertainment.

Caitlyn Jenner's much buzzed-about "reality" show premieres with an episode that includes her reintroducing herself to her mother.

LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER. 11 p.m. Sunday, HBO.

Sure, you can wait for Monday morning and the inevitably viral videos, but nothing prepares me for the week ahead like a half-hour dose of John Oliver, whose informational comedy - hard truths, occasionally served up with hamsters - is one of the best things on TV.

BOSTON EMS. 9 p.m. Saturday, 6ABC.

The second of two ABC News summer series from the producer of "NY Med" and "Boston Med" highlights first responders' work.

COUNTDOWN TO THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS WORLD GAMES. 9 p.m. Saturday, 6ABC.

Robin Roberts hosts a one-hour special profiling some of the participants in an event that starts Saturday in Los Angeles and is expected to draw more than 6,500 athletes with intellectual disabilities from some 165 countries.
