Olsen-free 'Full House'

Will anyone watch Netflix's Full House reboot without those adorable original stars, Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, who have turned down the opportunity to star in the new version? (In other words, is a life without the Olsen girls worth living?)

Their costars seem copacetic. "They're not doing it, and I'm just happy that they're happy," Bob Saget tells E! News. (But will you be happy when the series fails?)

Says Saget, "I want my friends to do what they want to do. . . . They have a whole different creative life now."

Honoring R&B legends

The Phillies game Friday against the San Francisco Giants at Citizens Bank Park will be preceded at 6:30 p.m. by live music by Odunde 365 and an awards ceremony honoring the O'Jays and R&B and jazz maestro Jean Carne.

Part of the 12th annual Phillies African American Heritage Celebration, the event also will feature appearances by Philadelphia Sound pioneers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff.

Carne will perform her hit, "Don't Let It Go to Your Head," and Bunny Sigler will sing the national anthem.

Romantic non-romance

True, One Direction heartthrob Niall Horan was invited by Ariana Grande to check out her concert Monday night in London. True, the youngsters (they are both 21) stayed up late chatting backstage. But they are not romantically involved, TMZ assures the world.

Rhimes said, 'Yes'

Shonda Rhimes, the writer-producer who helped bring the world Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away with Murder, will publish her highly buzzworthy memoir, Year of Yes, in the fall by Simon and Schuster, says Variety.

The premise: In 2013, Rhimes said yes to any unexpected offer, challenge, or opportunity that came her way.

"Saying yes for an entire year turned out to be one of the most amazing decisions I have ever made," Rhimes, 45, said Tuesday in a statement. "It was also a little insane, a lot terrifying, and sometimes wildly embarrassing. So this is not a story I ever planned to share with anyone."

She decided to share it after she was aggressively courted by publishers.

Truth from Eastwood

The true story has done well for J. Edgar, The Changeling, and American Sniper director Clint Eastwood. The 85-year-old auteur has signed with Warner for another. He'll direct Sully, a biopic about Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the pilot who was hailed as an American hero in 2009 when he landed a passenger plane on the Hudson River.

Chet Hanks: I'm cool

Should 3Tom Hanks give his rapper son Chester "Chet" Hanks a serious spanking? So counsel a slew of fans who are upset that Chet's hip-hop alter ego, Chet Haze, continues to employ all over social media the ultimate racial slur used in reference to African Americans.

Tom has yet to weigh in, but Chet, 24, is incensed by his critics. He's posted a series of expletive-rich vids to make his point.

"If I say the [epithet] I say it amongst people I love and who love me," he argues. If he says these controversial words, he says, "it's because that's really how I felt at the time. And I don't accept society getting to decide what ANYBODY can or can't say." Awesome.
