This eye-opening documentary from Oscar winner Alex Gibney traces the history of the Church of Scientology, including interviews with several disenchanted former members and more about Tom Cruise than you may want to know.

* KILLING JESUS. 8 p.m. Sunday, National Geographic Channel.

Haaz Sleiman stars in an adaptation of the Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard bestseller that's at its liveliest showing Jesus of Nazareth as a disruptive force, challenging the establishment of his time. I couldn't help wondering how O'Reilly's Fox News Channel might have covered the rabble-rousing carpenter who championed the poor.

* MASTERPIECE: MR. SELFRIDGE. 9 p.m. Sunday, WHYY12.

Jeremy Piven returns for a third season as Harry Selfridge, the brash American who helped revolutionize the way Britons shopped, in an episode that includes a couple of weddings, a funeral and plenty of intrigue.

* BLACK SAILS. 9 p.m. Saturday, Starz.

It's a Season 2 wrap for the "Treasure Island" prequel whose co-creator, Jonathan E. Steinberg, hails from landlocked Melrose Park.
