Molly Eichel's TV picks: 'Outlander' returns in all of its bodice-ripping glory

Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief. Academy Award-winner Alex Gibney uses Lawrence Wright's fantastic book as source material for this searing look at the Church of Scientology, from how the life of founder L. Ron Hubbard affected the religion to how it keeps its members from fleeing through blackmail and threats of destruction. 8 p.m. Sunday on HBO.

Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies. The three-part, Ken Burns-produced documentary, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book by Siddhartha Mukherjee, looks at those on the front lines of fighting cancer, including the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Starts 9 p.m. Monday on WHYY.

Archer. If you haven't been watching Adam Reed's spy spoof 'toon, you are missing out on one of TV's most consistently hilarious, surprisingly smart comedies. The sixth season wraps Thursday, but the first five are available on Netflix. 10 p.m. Thursday on FX.

Outlander. Starz's Scottish bodice-ripper returns from its midseason hiatus for more titillating historical fiction. Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) is in the custody of nefarious Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies), forcing her new, hunky hubby Jamie (Sam Heughan) to mount a rescue attempt. 9 p.m. Saturday on Starz.
