Seth Meyers: Don’t expect me to sing or dance at the Emmys

Late Night host Seth Meyers, 40, is emceeing the Emmy Awards for the first time on Monday (8 p.m. ET on NBC).

What can viewers expect from you as Emmy host?
I don’t sing or dance, so you can expect none of that, but knowing my shortcomings will allow me to focus on my strengths, which is telling a lot of good jokes.

How does Late Night compare to anchoring SNL’s “Weekend Update”?
With the new show, it’s fun to actually have conversations with people where they can be unexpected. It’s also nice to share more about my personal life.

What’s the best thing about being a newlywed? [Meyers wed human rights lawyer Alexi Ashe in September 2013.]
The amount of TV you get to watch! I married the right person and it’s great.

  • Who was the last person to make you laugh?
Probably my parents and my wife. I can’t ever go a day without my wife making me laugh.
