* BET AWARDS. 8 p.m. Sunday, BET.

Chris Rock hosts the live telecast, with performances from Penn grad John Legend as well as Nicki Minaj, Usher, Pharrell Williams, Jennifer Hudson, Jhene Aiko and others, including Lionel Richie, who's receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award. (Check out our red-carpet coverage in Monday's Daily News

.)

* THE LEFTOVERS. 10 p.m. Sunday, HBO.

Tom Perrotta's grimly fascinating novel about the survivors of a Rapture-like event becomes a compelling series in the hands of "Lost" co-creator Damon Lindelof, with Justin Theroux and Amy Brenneman as two people coping in very different ways with a changed world. People looking for definitive answers may want to skip this one.

* LAST TANGO IN HALIFAX and VICIOUS. 8 and 10:30 p.m. Sunday, WHYY12.

It's Derek Jacobi night on PBS! "Tango" returns for a second season of often tart romance, with Jacobi as a widower reunited with an old sweetheart (Anne Reid), while the broadly written Britcom "Vicious," from a former "Will & Grace" writer, pairs him with Ian McKellen as longtime companions who seem less than companionable.

* RECKLESS. 9 p.m. Sunday, CBS3.

No one's going to be losing any sleep over this Charleston, S.C.-set legal drama full of sex and politics, but, hey, it's summer.

* EDGE OF THE CITY and A RAISIN IN THE SUN. 4:15 and 5:45 p.m. Saturday, TCM.

The classic movie channel marks Ruby Dee's passing with two of her films.
