The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts hosted its annual student exhibition preview party on May 11. Founded in 1805, the academy was America's first school/museum of fine arts and is a recognized leader in fine arts. Party attendees enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while viewing approximately 1,000 works in various media by graduates and current students. Sponsorship and ticket sales for the party totaled $313,550, and art sales from the first four days totaled $358,117. Students receive the majority of the purchase price of works sold, but proceeds from the preview party support PAFA student scholarships.
