Bruce Springsteen is off the road this year — though he’s said to be going to Broadway in the fall.
But while the Boss is away, the members of his E Street Band are going out to play.
On Tuesday, two of them announced post-Labor Day Philly tour dates.
More notably, Little Steven & the Disciples of Soul are embarking on their first tour since 1990 and will play the Electric Factory on Oct. 1.
Steven Van Zandt, who has served as Springsteen’s right hand man/consigliere for decades and played a similar role with the aid of a wig as Sylvio Dante in HBO’s The Sopranos, is leading the band in support of Soulfire, his first album in 18 years, which mixes his own compositions with songs associated with James Brown and Etta James.
